What You Can Expect
Deep Base
We excavate and compact several inches of road base, the single most important step. A skimpy base is why so many patios sink and heave within a couple of winters.
Level Screed
A precise sand setting bed, screeded flat, gives every paver full support so the surface stays even and comfortable to walk and set furniture on.
Locked Joints
We finish with polymeric sand that hardens in the joints, locking pavers together, resisting weeds, and keeping ants and washout from undermining the surface.
Edge Restraint
Hidden edge restraint around the perimeter keeps the pavers from spreading and creeping outward over time — a step cheap installs skip.

Why Pavers Over a Concrete Slab
Poured concrete is cheaper up front, but Idaho's freeze-thaw cycles crack it, and once it cracks the only fix is a jackhammer. Interlocking pavers flex with the ground, and if a tree root or settling ever lifts a section, we can pull those pavers, re-level the base, and reset them — no demolition. You also get more design freedom: borders, patterns, curves, and a fire-pit area that all read as one finished space. For most backyards, pavers are the better long-term value.
